Kniha Digital_Humanities není tradičně pojatým akademickým sborníkem esejí či spoluautorskou monografií. Jak uvádějí v předmluvě a doslovu její autoři, Digital_Humanities je „výsledkem spolupráce“ na „rukopisu se sdíleným přístupem“, do něhož „každý´ z autorů přispěl k psaní, revizi, přepisům a konečným úpravám celého díla“. Model této knihy má tedy „experimentální povahu“. Usiluje o to, „vytvořit jednolity´, i když sborový´ hlas“ a tímto hlasem vést „jakýsi metadialog: tedy dialog, který´ na sebe bere podobu toho, o čem pojednává“. A jelikož pojednává o provázanosti mezi humanitními vědami a komputačními metodami výzkumu v raném 21. století, bere na sebe podobu provázanosti. K ní ostatně odkazuje i podtržítko v názvu publikace. Kolektiv pěti autorů – předních odborníků-teoretiků z rozmanitých vědních oborů – v ní podává zevrubnou zprávu o provázanosti mezi humanitními vědami a komputačními metodami výzkumu v raném 21. století. Zkoumají metodiky a technologie, které byly pro tradiční humanitní zkoumání donedávna neznámé (geoprostorová analýza, korpusová lingvistika, vizualizace a simulace dat apod.). Do monografie jsou tak zahrnuty nejen kapitoly o základech nového vědního pole, o nových metodách a žánrech či o společenském životě digitálních humanitních věd (digital humanities), ale také případové studie, ba dokonce „provokace“ a „rady“. Tyto přesvědčivě podané sondy mohou sloužit jako inspirace pro každého, kdo se chce v současné době podílet na koncipování, realizaci či hodnocení výzkumných projektů v oblasti humanitních věd o digitální technologie. Kniha Digital_Humanities je vizionářským prohlášením o možné budoucnosti humanitních věd, ale také příležitostí ke kritické reflexi těchto nových vědeckých trendů. České vydání je doplněno zevrubným doslovem teoretika nových médií Josefa Šlerky, který zapojuje nadnárodně se rozvíjející principy digital humanities do kontextu české vědy, hodnotí dosavadní tuzemské výsledky na tomto poli a naznačuje příležitosti, které se zde otevírají do budoucna.
